Longshaw school in Waltham Forest is currently part of the Silver Birch Academy Trust. Due to the failings of the Academy trust and mismanagement including financial irregularities the school is being rebrokered with a number of alternative academy trusts looking to take the school on. Once schools have been academised there is no mechanism, if the academies fail to take schools back in to local authority and there is no accountability once schools are in the academy system. The parents of pupils at Longshaw have started a petition attached to change this system and lack of accountability and give schools the option to go back in to local authority control. This petition needs 100k signatures for it to be debated in parliament. Please could people distribute and ask people to sign it. This is an issue that doesn't just affect this school. This could have an impact on any school that finds itself part of a failing academy trust.
